An environmental and fiscal tragedy

I am a property owner who has not been heard by the POA in Julington Creek Plantation. I am speaking out to prevent your POA dollars from being spent needlessly and to protect our wildlife and our natural landscape that makes JCP so special.

I have lived in Julington Creek Plantation for almost 16 years. It was during Hurricane Andrew 16 years ago that my family and I moved to Florida. Despite our realtor’s advice we built a house in The Greens. We took a chance on this development that had already gone bankrupt once and was building out in the boondocks. Over the years there have been many changes and we have paid attention to the good and the bad. One of the reasons we built where we did, and paid the premium price to do so, was that behind our house is a protected area – a Florida Lake, otherwise known as a retention pond and behind that was the golf course. We believed that we were safe from the intervention of man to ruin our view. However in December of 2007 we received a letter that stated our pond was going to undergo maintenance for the purpose of cleaning it out and we were assured that all work would be done while the plants and wildlife were dormant. Unfortunately for all of us the folks who wrote that letter lied.
