Due to weather conditions on Saturday, March 8, the Julington Creek Baseball Opening Ceremonies at Mills Field were cancelled. The festivities, which are open to the public, have been rescheduled for this upcoming Saturday, March 14 at Mills Field (off Race Track Road) from 9 a.m to 7 p.m.

According to a report issued by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, an eight-year-old girl was struck in the head by a baseball Saturday while watching a game being played at Mills Field. 

Theresa Giordano was taken by Life Flight emergency helicopter to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville.

The girl's father, Michael Giordano, told police his daughter was standing nea the left field batting cage located near the field in the northeast portion of Mills Filed when she got hit in the back of the head with a baseball.
