I'd like to thank the 90+% of registered voters in northwestern St. John's county who didn't vote. You made my vote worth 10 times more than it otherwise would have been. If y'all would like, We can keep this little arrangement going. Y'all stay home in November too, and I'll do the voting. How does that sound? Submitted by Josy on Sun, 08/31/2008 - 6:25pm.
You can do everything online, register to vote, request to vote by mail, (absentee voting) Then you receive the ballot by mail, fill it out and mail it back. You need postage. But, it's easy. Also there is early voting. I don't understand the excuses of why people do not vote. Submitted by Claude91098 on Sat, 09/06/2008 - 10:32am.
Granted, this was a primary. However, locally it WAS THE ELECTION! And a vote on the Charter, which LOST, for all of you Charter supporters in Ponte Vedra! I'm with gasbag....THANK YOU ALL for making my and the wife's vote count for 10 times more than it would have! Now, if the mosquito patrol would just come around. After Fay the biters are out in FORCE!!! |

With a margin THIS LARGE, why would the Commissioners want to put it on the November ballot AGAIN? It is clear that the vast majority of voters that turned out for the primary elections DID THEIR HOMEWORK and REJECTED the Charter "as written".
Mr. McQuire was correct. I'm glad more people listened to him, checked his assertions and voted accordingly. The assertion that "more education" about this charter being needed is, IMHO, a desparate attempt to salvage a bad document. Whom, exactly, said that more education was needed? What do THEY stand to gain from this charter, if anything?
I am a supporter of "Charter" government, just not THIS charter as written.
The Commissioners need to reform a group that encompasses ALL of St Johns County residents, not just a "few" in a particular area. That group needs to have competent OVERSIGHT and legal representatives that would ensure the Charter is most favorable for the CITIZENS OF ST JOHNS COUNTY, and not just a few that had priviledge to write the thing up in the first place!
And BTW: CONGRADULATIONS Cyndi Stevenson!!! YOU DESERVED THE WIN!!!
