Kudo's to the J.C.P. Board!

Many thanks to the J.C.P. board for taking MY posts and ideas, and collecting and condensing them into a coherent, family-friendly, editorial in the paper edition of the St Johns Sun.  They have outlined the numerous steps they have taken to prevent the rampant vandalism that seems to be taking over JCP.  They have outlined how replacing all the sod costs over $10,000, coming out of OUR pockets!  They have let us know that they are working with on and off duty police officers to curtail this behaviour and apprehend the offenders.  They also have made us aware that the S.J.S.O. will be looking to prosecute these crimes, for that's what they are, as felonies.  This means anyone, kid, teen, or adult, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!  Yes!  They have taken a stance that parents should be aware of what their kids are doing, that "Yes, YOUR kids CAN be doing that!"  This is a 180 degree turnaround from what I'm used to hearing, that "it's not MY kid.", that "the people doing that are not from around here". etc.  The board has released data from the police showing that the majority of the crimes are commited by teens, and commited by teens from JCP!  Once again, not my opinion, but cold, hard fact from the cops!  Maybe my posts in the past have been a little harsh, but apparently I am not the only one who is aware of this problem, and I thank the board for making an effort to confront it.

In addition, there was a short note mentioning how there was no election for boardholders, as there were just 5 candidates for 5 seats.  With the size of our community, and they issues and complaints constantly being brought up, you would think there would be a large queue of people lining up to fix these things.  There were not.  Including myself, I think we should all pay a little more attention to our community, and not depend on the board to make everything alright.  After reading the article, I realized, belatedly, that they are just volunteers looking to make a difference here.  We should thank them.  I have had issues in the past with certain members of the board, but those days are gone.  This is simple, follow the rules (You signed the JCP covenent agreement) and you will be fine.  Don't worry about anyone else unless it affects you, your property values, or your saftey.  Then, let the board or the law handle it, unless it is a situation that can be peacefully and safely negotiated.

Let's hope that many in JCP took the time to read this.

I am so glad that some of the issues you folks face at JCP are being addressed, FINALLY! Remember jjones, if the people on the BOD are doing their jobs without bias, in a way to help ALL members and not just a few "friends" etc, the HOA can be your best friend!Smile

I have an issue with JCP, kinda sorta: The Champions Course.

#1.- It is a separate entity from the JCP developement meaning not owned by JCP in any way, shape or form.

#2.- The players that live in JCP, members or not, need to understand that non-members pay the same money they do to play golf there and if some of us don't meet their personal "standard" of excellence that they feel we should...TOUGH BANANAS!!!Cool

Anyway, two weeks ago our foursome played the course. The greens suck right now, really bad! The ones at Hyde Park are far superior to the conditions at TCC. I hope they get that issue addressed as soon as possible.

And to the two old ladies that were behind us that day: NOT ONCE did we slow YOUR play. NOT ONCE did you ask to play through. (It wouldn't have done you any good, there was a group in front of US too!) SO, the next time you decide to make disparaging remarks as you drive past us, skipping the 18th hole, THINK first! I have a vocabulary that will take the hair color out of your dyed gray heads!!!Laughing

That's what the normal of us call JCP (that's fit for print.)  I too, cannot understand where these people get their audacity from, acting like they live in Epping Forest or Ponte Vedra.  Folks, just because you live within spitting distance of a golf course does not make you one of the well-heeled gentry, although you do need to be well heeled somewhere. My wife and I moved down here from the NYC area to GET AWAY from snobs.  Believe me, where I'm from, I KNOW truly rich and truly snobby S.O.B.'s, but you know what?  They have the money, status, and prestige to back it up.  It's been EARNED!  Most of you would not be able to afford 1/4 of your house you have now if you lived in Jersey, NYC, or God forbid, Conneticut!  Get off the high horses, Happyland dwellers!  You ain't all that!  I ain't all that!  Thing is, I don't pretend to be.  I drive a pick up (8 years old) shop at Walmart (stuff is cheap), and don't hobknob for no reason at "The Club" or on the course.  I could, but why?  I've got nothing to prove.  Tell you what.  Go on down to The Inn at Ponte Vedra and strut your stuff for the old moneyed people.  I'll know your there when I hear the laughter from here!  You people know who you are!
