Your Daily Dose for May 6, 2008
Daniel Tammet is a mathematical savant, able to make amazing calculations in his head. He can even calculate answers to over a hundred decimal places. He also speaks nine different languages and says he can learn a new one in just under a week. His story is absolutely fascinating. The video is a full documentary (48 minutes) but I promise is worth watching all the way through. If you don't want to watch the entire thing, at least watch the first eight minutes... Click here to watch the video via Google. (Honestly...it is truly astounding.) I've watched this documentary three or four times now. It never ceases to amaze me. And to think that his computations simply come to him, that he experiences numbers emotionally, it's just incredible. You can't help but wonder what other potential talents the human brain has that are yet to be discovered. I figured if I could convince people to watch the first couple of minutes, they'd get hooked. It's just too engaging not to watch. Glad you enjoyed it Lily! |

Wow...I had planned to watch a few minutes but ended up watching the entire 45 minutes! What struck me most in this video was Daniel’s statement that “the line between profound talent and profound disability is a very thin one” ... and, it’s not inconceivable that, as the Dr. said, ‘we all may have a little rain man in each of us.” What amazing energy there is in the universe if only we knew how to access it...
I need to go watch this one more time...
