Blazing a new trail
The first 3.2 mile phase of the Rail to Trail program has bee completed, and it's offical, public opening was celebrated on March 25 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new trail is located off Florida 207, two miles west of I-95, and will eventually link to several locations throughout the state. It is open to all non-motorized traffic, which includes walking, biking, or skating. We will continue to report on the trail as further sections are completed. There is a Cross Seminole Trail that runs from Winter Springs to Oviedo - both are just outside of Orlando - and I'm wondering if this one will eventually connect with that section? if so, I could ride my bike right to my brother's backyard! Does anyone know if there's a plan to make it possible to eventually bike through the entire state on the rail trails?
