Anyone going to see Springsteen in August?

Anyone out there a displaced Jersey boy/girl going to see Bruce?  Just curious if there are actually Springsteen fans in the land of Freebird.

Way to go, JCP HOA!!!!

More pro-action from JCP's HOA board! I noticed signs put out where some idiots had been peeling out on the sod. They stated that "YOU are paying for this!" (most likely not, the parents, yes) And also let the morons know that there would be a reward for information leading to the ARREST of the perps. Maybe if these idiots learn that it's NOT all fun and games, and they CAN and WILL go to jail, they will think twice. Also, I plan on discretely placing a few of my digital game cameras in public areas around my neighborhood. The kind that go off if there is motion within x amount of feet.

Kudo's to the J.C.P. Board!

Many thanks to the J.C.P. board for taking MY posts and ideas, and collecting and condensing them into a coherent, family-friendly, editorial in the paper edition of the St Johns Sun.  They have outlined the numerous steps they have taken to prevent the rampant vandalism that seems to be taking over JCP.  They have outlined how replacing all the sod costs over $10,000, coming out of OUR pockets!  They have let us know that they are working with on and off duty police officers to curtail this behaviour and apprehend the offenders.  They also have made us aware that the S.J.S.O. will be looking to prosecute these crimes, for that's what they are, as felonies.  This means anyone, kid, teen, or adult, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!  Yes!  They have taken a stance that parents should be aware of what their kids are doing, that "Yes, YOUR kids CAN be doing that!"  This is a 180 degree turnaround from what I'm used to hearing, that "it's not MY kid.", that "the people doing that are not from around here". etc.  The board has released data from the police showing that the majority of the crimes are commited by teens, and commited by teens from JCP!  Once again, not my opinion, but cold, hard fact from the cops!  Maybe my posts in the past have been a little harsh, but apparently I am not the only one who is aware of this problem, and I thank the board for making an effort to confront it.

Thanks, Kids!

Thanks, kids. Thanks for all the great vandalism you've been doing around the community. The peel-outs on the freshly laid sod that I and your parents are paying for, thanks for kicking down the Bears sign at the soccer field so it looks like crap, thanks for continually kicking in sections of fencing of the dock and bridge at the large pond by the pool. Especially thanks for breaking your beer bottles where I have to walk my dog in the street. They like the extra fun navigating the obstacle course. Thanks for spray painting churches. I guess you guys are big time Neo-Nazi's, eh? Hate crimers. I just cannot wait until your little punk behinds are caught and thrown into juvie, or even better, St Johns Correction Center. Your white bread little butts will be crying for mommy. Ever watch "Oz" on HBO? Trust me, son. It's close to real. What's the matter? Bored with all the toys your parents buy for you? Brand new Beemers or Lexus's just doesn't cut it anymore? The Olympic sized swimming pool your parents built for you so you don't have to mingle with the "other" people just doesn't have the same shine? Do you really want to destroy things and ruin a lot of stuff? Here's what you do. Go to your local recruitment center, and sign up! Trust me on this, if you are 18, they will ship your butt over to Iraq as soon as boot camp is over! Then you can destroy all the stuff you want, and get paid to do it! What? No takers? Then look you little *****, stop wrecking the place where you live! Seriously, if you absolutely have to do it, go somewhere else! Your parents are paying for this. That means there will be less for your selfish little selves. By the way, be warned. I own a "weapon". If I ever catch an uninvited person on my property, I will assume the worst, that I am in mortal danger, and take appropriate action. To all you horrified parents? Oh well. Keep your kids in line, and they will never have any problems. Later.

Outcome of JCP/Pine Crossing Traffic Calming Meeting

Anyone know what became of the traffic calming meeting concerning Pine Crossing in JCP, and what it was all about?

Anyone interested in metal detecting?

I wrote a piece a few days ago, just thought I'd follow up with a note to see if anyone would just be interested in going out to the beaches or meet up and b.s. about stuff we've found, show and tell type of thing.  Nothing formal just yet.  No "officers" or dues.  I once belonged to The club in Jacksonville here, it's one of the biggest around, but they met too far away.  I'm into local, especially with the price of gas.  E-mail Justin at jjones474@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Traffic Calming Meeting at the Bartram Trail Library

Anyone attend this meeting?  I missed it, did they say what the deal is with the Loop and Durbin?  Why the ridiculous merge into one lane, then back to two lanes?  Was there any discussion about NOT doing anything, or was it just to let us know what's already going to be done.  I guess anything to get rid of the blocked lane on Racetrack when parents are waiting to get their kids.  I am all in favor of a little extra tax to provide buses for all and get rid of the congestion.

Another kind of lost and found...

One of my hobbies happens to be metal detecting, and I am always looking for new places to search.  After helping a co-worker look for an earring, I though that perhaps there are many out there who have lost metal items in their yard or a specific area where they are sure of the loss, but could not pick it up with their eyes, due to grass, weeds, or sand.  To help introduce people to this hobby and to possibly get a local club up and running, I am offering to help local residents find their valuables.  If the loss occured on their own property, all I ask is to keep any articles or change I find that is not the item being searched for, no fee.  If I search the whole yard and don't find anything, I will have had a fun day and you would have learned a bit about metal detecting.

How about a pet lost and found section for JCP residents?

I have rescued and reunited alot of dogs in my short time living in JCP.  Mostly I drive around with the dog in the back of my truck (secured!) or in it, or I post a notice on a sign or light pole.  These are very inefficient ways of helping reunite dogs and their owners. (Good luck catching a cat!)  I propose a section online for people to post pet lost and founds, where it will be prominently displayed, not buried in a sub-category. Also, possibly a small section in the sUN? This will encourage people to help round up the many strays I see running loose.  If people knew they had a quick and easy way to reach out to the community, they'd be more apt to do so.  No one wants to have to put up signs or drive around in hopes the owner is A) aware the dog is loose, B) cares, and C) is looking.  You'd be surprised.  I have hunted down an owner via a chance encounter with a mother and her kid.  The mother recognized the dog as belonging to her son's friend.  Upon return, the ungrateful owner responded, "yeah, he always gets out"  No thanks, no worry, no "gee, I hope it doesn't happen again".  Amazing.  With an online bulletin board, people could post immediately, and respond instantly.  Good hearted souls wouldn't have to keep the found dog for days, only to have to turn it in to a shelter.  The nearest shelter by the way, is quite a distance, and pretty well hidden.

Circle Off SparrowBranch in JCP-Pine Crossing

Anyone know what they are doing in the circle by the big lake leading into Pine Crossing/Whispering Pines?  It is laid out with pink stakes along the roadside going onto Durbin.  Are they putting a sidewalk in or maybe parking for the lake?
